Taking it from page to stage

I have been in love with the theatre ever since my mother took me to see Peter Pan at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth when I was just 5 years old.

I am proud to have been the Youth Theatre Director of The Plough Arts Centre for 9 years (2002-2011), in which time I produced and directed 20 productions to the general public with children aged between 7 and 19 years old.

Productions included amongst others Bugsy Malone, Korczak, Treasure Island, Sweeney Todd, Oklahoma, Scrooge the Musical, Oh What a Lovely War and Frankenstein.  I was also delighted to bring the South West Amateur Premiere of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast to North Devon.

One of the many highlights of my directing career would be taking a cast of over 40 children to Warsaw, Poland to perform Korczak as part of the International Festival of Theatre for Young People.  It was also a real honour and privilege to have had Murray Melvin, legendary actor and member of the original devising company of Oh What a Lovely War, come and talk to our cast of Oh What a Lovely War and offer his words of wisdom thoughout rehearsals.

As well as many Youth Theatre productions, I also have experience of directing adults in community theatre and I regularly work with schools across Devon to direct their annual performances.
