Rob is looking forward to 'Pink Day' at Made-Well tomorrow when he pays his regular dramatic visit. Here's a peek at what he got up to last Friday morning. . . ...

In last Friday's entertainingly different Drama workshop Rob introduced us to 'The Boat' - a delightful book by Helen Ward which tells the story of an old man who is wary of other people and looks after many neglected and strange animals on his lonely hill-top shack. Across the valley, the townspeople are fearful of the old man. When a huge deluge of rain turns the man's hill into an island, the actions of one brave boy save the man and his animals, and bring harmony to the valley. Lee took on the role of the old man whilst Toby played the part of the boy. Their characters were very believable and they had some fabulous facial expressions appropriate to the mood. Tess, Daisy and Simon made the boat (Simon also did lots of rowing and organising!) and we all were townspeople and animals. After acting out the story, complete with storm sound effects we worked as a chorus to recite an excerpt with added expressive movement which not only helped us remember the words but also added a very dramatic element. We were rather pleased with ourselves - what do you think?
